Creating an Effective Race Resume

Since it is almost the end of race season, you're probably already thinking about next year. You're thinking about which bike to ride, what series to do, your bike's color scheme and sponsors. Now is a great time to get your race resume together in order to gain sponsors for next race season!
Racing resumes are used to recruit sponsors to support you (and your dirt bike or ATV) during your race season. You want it to be informative, simple and professional because it represents you and your career as a racer. You want to make a great impression to encourage companies to provide you with assistance- whether that's a discount or free parts.
What should your resume include?
- Your name and contact information
- phone number, email, address to send products to
- Your social media accounts
- companies want to see that you will post about them and help advertise in return for their support
- Racing experience
- how many years you've been racing dirt bikes
- dirt bikes you've owned/currently own
- Racing accomplishments
- list the races you have completed with great results
- anything else impressive about you that is related to racing dirt bikes
- Current sponsors (if applicable)
- Future goals
- companies want to see that you are a dedicated and determined rider who is going to complete the season
Your race resume should be formal yet simple. It should be professionally worded, but keep it short and sweet. Race companies have tons and tons of resumes to look through, so they are less likely to read ones with too many words. You could also include a picture or 2 to fill space and add visual interest.
You could make the race resume design yourself using a template from somewhere like Google Docs or Canva. Simply use a normal resume template and adjust as needed. Or, you have a graphic designer do it for you. I've seen many people advertise on our local AWRCS page that they are willing to create race resumes, along with previous examples.
After your design is created, make sure to read over the resume for accuracy. Then, it is time to send them out! Check on companies' websites to see if they prefer the resume to be printed and mailed, sent by email, or uploaded to their site. Most places now prefer them to be submitted online. Check for any deadlines as well- some places only accept resumes during a certain period of time.
It is also important to keep track of who you sent resumes to, to avoid sending them to the same place twice. You could also keep track to see who responded and who hasn't. If the company hasn't responded within their time frame, it may be worth reaching out to see if they received what you sent.
Once you get your sponsors for the year arranged, it's time to order graphics! One of the most important parts of having sponsors is thanking them and showing that you appreciate their support. The easiest way to do this is to add their logo to your graphics! We can customize logos on any kit from our website, as well as for any full custom graphics kit. You can choose from the logos in our database or email anything we don't have to support@sengegraphics.com.
We can also make banners to hang up at your pit to show your sponsors off! You can add pictures, your name and number, and of course sponsor logos! Email or text us to order.
Remember all of these tips when creating your dirt bike race resume for the year. Whether you choose to create it yourself or pay a designer, it is most effective to keep it short and sweet, yet professional. Good luck and happy prepping for the 2025 race season!
