Preparing for the New Year of Racing

Preparing for the New Year of Racing

Posted by marissa Fajbik on Dec 27th 2023

We're almost to the new year- it's hard to believe it is almost 2024 already! That means it's time to start thinking about what is in store for the 2024 race season. Keep reading for a checklist on how to prepare.

  1. Make sure your bike is ready
    1. One of the most important things is to make sure your bike is prepped and ready to go. Go over the bike and replace any parts needed. Give yourself ample time to do so, as some parts may take a while to come in.
    2. If you decide your bike might need an upgrade, check out all the new 2024 dirt bikes coming out! Keep in mind there might be a preorder and wait time for them.
  2. Make sure you have all the proper gear
    1. As always, having the right safety gear is essential to racing. You will need a jersey and pants, helmet, goggles, gloves, chest protector and over the ankle boots.
    2. Check to see that all your gear is still in good shape. Try everything on to ensure it still fits and will be suitable for the upcoming season.
  3. Plan transportation
    1. How are you going to get your bike to and from the track? If you have your own truck and/or trailer, you're probably all set. If not, make arrangements with friends to haul your bike.
    2. There's also the option of paying someone from the series to haul your bike. Ask around to see if anyone would be willing or offers it as a service.
  4. Get your body in shape
    1. While most riders keep working out over the off-season, if you haven't, make sure to start getting your body ready for the season. Racing takes a lot of physical power in addition to the mental load. Start with stretching and cardio activities like walking or running.
    2. Make sure to eat healthier too! We know the holidays make it hard to eat healthy, so now is the time to get back on track with your diet to prepare for the 2024 race season.
  5. Get graphics!
    1. Of course, getting graphics is essential to the season! A fresh set of graphics will be the perfect start to the new year.
    2. Customize graphics on our new site with any of our styles! You can changes colors and/or add custom logos. Message us at support@sengegraphics.com with any questions or concerns.
  6. Set goals
    1. Set goals before the season starts. Whether it's something small like finishing the race, or bigger scale like winning the overall for the season- any goal gives you something to work towards!

Make sure you check into which race series you want to do also. Different series start at different times of the year, especially based on where you are located. GNCC will start in South Carolina on February 17th and 18th. On the flip side, our local series AWRCS will start in April once the weather gets warmer here in Western Pennsylvania. Check the schedules for wherever you race to make sure you have enough time to prep!

It's almost time! There's only a few more days until we'll be ringing in the new year. Use this checklist to make sure you are ready to take on whatever the 2024 race season has in store. We can wait to see everyone on the track!
