Dirt Bike Road Trip from Pittsburgh

Are you thinking about taking a weekend road trip to get away and do some dirt bike riding? We've previously talked about tracks near where we are located in Pittsburgh, PA, but today we are going to suggest a complete road trip to hit up multiple riding locations!

Starting from Pittsburgh, we are going to head about an hour east to Latrobe Speedway in Latrobe, PA. We would start this trip on a Friday because this location has their races scheduled for Friday nights as part of their Friday Night Lights series. The gates open at 5 pm and the racing starts at 7:30 pm. It costs $15 to get in the gate, plus the fee for joining the race. There is flat track and motocross racing.

We would plan to stay over in Latrobe before moving on to our next riding location. There are a few hotel options nearby including: Springhill SuitesThe Inn at Mountainview, and the Hampton Inn. Check out this list for ideas on where to grab dinner after the race too.

The next day, we would travel about an hour and a half northeast to Rock Run Recreation Area in Patton, PA. This place offers 140 miles of trails with great views of the Allegheny Mountains. They have open rides as well as organized events. They allow dirt bikes, ATVs, UTVs and rock crawlers.

This location allows camping of all types. There are spots for campers and/or tents. Newly, there are cabins available for rent. Staying on site is a great way to get the most out of your riding experience. Read through this list of restaurants in the area too!

Finally, on Sunday we would head another hour and a half west over to Ben Franklin Range in Templeton, PA. There are 65 miles of trails to explore here. They also welcome all types of vehicles from dirt bikes and ATVs to UTVs, rock crawlers and Jeeps. You would have to make sure the park is open the day you plan to go, as they are only open for scheduled events. The next big ride (hosted by Stiller Motorsports) is scheduled for July 15th. Make sure to make a pitstop at Widnoon Soft Serve for the best ice cream before heading home.

From there, it's about an hour southwest back to Pittsburgh, bringing our riding road trip in at 223 total miles and about 4.5 hours of drive time.

If you have a free weekend to ride and have fun, try out our road trip idea! This trip would be the most fun with friends and family. Start a group chat or make a post online to find people to join you on your dirt bike riding adventure. You'll be able to reach a broader audience since these parks allow more than just dirt bikes! Once you have this trip organized, the only thing left to do is try it out and have fun!
