This is the week- the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. 

Loretta Lynn's Ranch

Loretta Lynn was an American country singer and songwriter. She grew up in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky as a coal miner's daughter. She married Oliver "Doolittle" Lynn and became a housewife with 6 children. Her husband encouraged her music career. Eventually, she moved to Nashville in 1960 where she entered the world of country music. Loretta focused on writing songs about her life, especially focusing on lyrics other women could relate to. In 1972, she was the first woman to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year award. Over her long career, she won many awards, created friendships with other singers, and took on the reputation of a role model for women. Sadly, she passed away October 4, 2022 in her home on her ranch. 

Loretta Lynn's Ranch is now an event compound in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee that features campgrounds, cabin rentals, miles of trails, and other tourist attractions. The Ranch also features other activities including: stores, museums, guided tours, food, swimming, tubing, fishing and more. It is one of Tennessee's biggest tourist attractions and one of the largest campgrounds, claiming to be the "ultimate family destination". A top attraction is the original grist mill on the property, which hosts a museum, gift shops, and a deck overlooking the scenic Hurricane creek and waterfall. 

This facility is home to the largest amateur motocross race in the country, the AMA National Championship. They also host many other rides and races throughout the year! Loretta and her husband welcomed the racing community. The first race was held on their property in 1982 after the suggestion from Dave Coombs. Now, the AMA National Championship race is a six day event held there in the beginning of August. Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship

This year, the dates for the race are Monday, July 29th through Saturday, August 3rd. Not only is there dirt bike racing, but you'll also find other special activities all week such as the GasGas beach party, Twisted Tea Suzuki cornhole tournament, Yamaha family bLU crRU dinner, music on the beach with Zac Herrin, and the Loretta Lynn Club Kennel Dog Show. There are so many more events not listed, check them out here!

In general, on the Ranch you'll also find the Ross Family farmer's market, Kawasaki Green Team, Yamaha bLU cRU, KTM, Cobra Moto, Husqvarna Mobility, and Gas Gas trackside support. There's also camp STACYC for kids and a free goggle tune up from Oakley! This is a great event with so many opportunities and so much fun to be had!
