Supercross is Coming to Pittsburgh!
Posted by marissa Fajbik on Oct 23rd 2024
Surely you've heard by now- Supercross is coming to our hometown of Pittsburgh, PA for the 2025 season. It is part of the AMA Supercross World Championship. The season runs from January 25th to May 10th with 17 rounds. While they will be returning to old venues from previous seasons, Pittsburgh, PA and Birmingham, Alabama were added newly for next year!
AMA Supercross racing started back in 1974. Mike Goodwin is credited with bringing Supercross racing to the United States in 1972 when he brought his idea of putting on a motorcycle show in an area to life. From there, stemmed an entirely new perspective of the sport of racing. It was so different than any other racing, that it became a huge feature of entertainment. Supercross really kicked off in the 1990s and early 2000s when riders like Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart stole the show and redefined what it meant to be a champion. Now, 50 years since it started, Supercross still hosts some of the best racers in the world and gets even more attention.
Round 15 will be held at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, right where we are located! This is the first time Supercross is here since 1983 at Three Rivers Stadium. Tickets went on sale at the beginning of the month, but you can find more information here.
There is also the option to add Fan Fest to your ticket. This option gives you an invite to see the racers as they practice, see the bikes up close, interact with sponsor displays, meet your favorite riders, and watch exclusive entertainment!
This is highly anticipated event, since our area has a ton of people interested in motocross and dirt bikes. We would expect a ton of people are going to show up. There is limited parking in the area, so be sure to scope that out ahead of time if you are going. Fans are encouraged to use the North Shore lots or even reserve a parking spot in advance. Keep in mind that Acrisure Stadium also has a clear bag policy, so no backpacks or purses are allowed in.
You can even check out all the track layouts online here! Scroll down to round 15 to see the layout for Pittsburgh.
If you love dirt bikes and racing, make sure to keep up with Supercross events whether you're attending or watching live on TV.
