It's That Time of Year Again: How to get Racing Sponsors
Posted by marissa Fajbik on Dec 6th 2023
We are nearing the end of the year and most race series' are finished until next year. Now is the time to scope out potential sponsors for next year- but how? Keep reading for tips and tricks for getting brands to back up your racing career.
1. Build a Professional Resume
The most important step when finding sponsors is to have a professional race resume to send to potential companies. Make sure to list your contact information, racing accomplishments, what series and class(es) you race, the dirt bike you ride, your current sponsors and your goals for the year.
It's important that the resume looks nice, clean and professional. You want it to be an easy, quick read because many companies are searching through a lot of racers' resumes. You want yours to stand out and be to the point. In order to do this, you could use a template from online or pay a graphic designer to do it for you.
Send out resumes either through email or mail them with the post office. Make sure to keep a list of who you sent to, so you know if you received a response and to avoid sending the same company your information more than once.
2. Stay Active on Social Media
As you might have seen in our previous blog post, there are many ways to boost your social media presence when it comes to racing. Social media apps like Facebook and Instagram are perfect for building a fanbase. Make sure you post frequently to keep your account active and attract followers. You could post things like race results, videos of you riding, or future races you will be attending. The more you post, the more likely people are to find your account.
Companies would be more likely to back you up if they see you have a solid fanbase to share their product or brand with. You could also use your accounts to prove that you have a successful racing career. You want to make sure your account shows you and your dirt bike as much as possible.
Social media can especially be useful after you have sponsors. Make sure to tag and promote your sponsors. This will make the company happy and boost the number of people who see the post. You can also show off your graphics with your sponsors on them!
3. Promote Yourself Locally
Lastly, you could also promote yourself locally. Taking your resume door to door to local businesses creates a personal connection with the companies who you want to sponsor you. Local places would also have less riders asking, so they are more likely to have availability to sponsor you than huge racing related companies.
It's time to find sponsors again! Reach out to previous sponsors to renew their support, but also reach out to additional, new companies- especially local! Make sure they know that you will back up their company by posting on social media, tagging them, and adding them to your graphics to encourage their support!
Keep an eye out for when we open our racing sponsorships for the year! We can't wait to review everyone's resumes!
