How To Create a Race Resume

Posted by Marissa Fajbik on Jun 7th 2023

Racing resumes are used to recruit sponsors to support you during the race season. They are a great way to professionally present yourself to companies and encourage them to help you out (either financially or with their products). Keep reading for more information on how to create your own racing resume!

  1. Gather Pictures and Information
    1. The first step to creating your resume is to have pictures and your information ready. You will want to include things such as:
      1. Your contact information
      2. Racing accomplishments
      3. Series you've raced and what class(es)
      4. How long you've been racing
      5. Current sponsors
      6. Future goals
  2. Create the resume
    1. At this step, you'll need to decide if you want to create the resume yourself or pay a designer to do it. You could use an online template if you want to do it yourself. Sites like Google Docs have premade resume templates. If you decide to pay a designer, ask on local race sites to find someone to do it. There's also websites such as this one that offer resumes online.
      1. Look for designs that are simple and get the point across. The pictures can be a focal point of the design.
  3. Send Out the Resume
    1. After your design is finalized, it's time to send out your resume! Keep a list of companies you wish to send them to and cross them off as you go. Most places now prefer to have the resume emailed to them or uploaded to their website, so keep in mind it may take some time to search for all of them.
    2. Check for any deadlines, as some companies have a cut off time for accepting sponsored riders. For example, we only accept resumes for a limited amount of time at the beginning of race season. This helps us stay organized and take time to pick our riders!
  4. Order Graphics
    1. Once all your sponsors are confirmed, it's time to order graphics! Graphics are the perfect way to display all your sponsors for the year!
      1. You can order custom logos on your graphics directly from our website. You will be able to type in what sponsors you need to include on the kit. The logos will pop up if they are in our database. If not, please make sure to email us the logos you need added, preferably in a vector format
      2. Another great option to display sponsors is a banner. We can make those too! Message us at support@sengegraphics.com to order!

Use these steps to create your racing resume to gather for support during race season! Whether you make your own or pay a designer, make sure to include information about yourself and keep it professional to encourage companies to support you. Good luck!
