Chrome vs Holographic Graphics
Posted by marissa Fajbik on Apr 3rd 2024
We've been talking about it for a while now- we have 3 base materials to choose from when ordering MX graphics - standard (white), chrome and holographic. Let's dive deeper into the difference between chrome and holo.
Chrome
Chrome is one of the options for your dirt bike, ATV or Stacyc graphics. It has a mirror-like, silver effect.
Keep in mind when ordering your kit, anything that is white in the display picture is what will be chrome. The material itself is chrome and we don't have white ink. If you request a proof, we do our best to replicate what that will look like.
Chrome is awesome if you want a shiny look. We would recommend chrome to anyone looking for a true, shiny gold like below.

Holographic
Holographic is the other special option. While holo still has the shiny mirror effect, it is also rainbow. It is definitely more dramatic than chrome. If you are trying to stand out even further in the crowd- holographic base is probably the best option for you.
Just like chrome, the material itself is what has the holographic effect. Therefore, anything that is white is where the holographic material will show.

Laminates
After choosing your base, you will need to decide what laminate will go over top. The laminate is extra thick and durable to protect your graphics.
Options for laminate are standard (gloss), matte or metallic.
- Gloss is the typical, shiny laminate that is standard for most graphics.
- Matte provides a flat, dull finish.
- Keep in mind if you race hare scramble with trees and jaggers, matte is more susceptible to scratches because of the finish.
- Lastly, metallic has glitter in it. If you want your graphics to be blinding from a mile away- chrome or holographic with metallic laminate is what to choose.
