All New Electric Dirt Bikes
Posted by marissa Fajbik on Feb 21st 2024
Let's talk electric dirt bikes! There are a few new models for 2024. We previously introduced the KTM E2, but there is also the Gas Gas E2 and the Husqvarna E-E2.
The Gas Gas E2 and the Husky E-E2 are very similar. They are both electric dirt bikes for younger, smaller kids. They make a great option for taking a step in between a strider bike and a gas dirt bike(or even the larger electric bikes). They are lighter than a traditional dirt bike, making them a great option for kids who are just starting out learning how to ride.
Both bikes feature adjustable heights so it can grow with your child. This way, they can enjoy the bike longer as they grow, learn and improve!
Electric bikes come with a heavier price tag, but could save you money in the long run. Obviously, you forgo the need to buy fuel and other fluids related to gas engines like oil. There are also less parts on an electric dirt bike, meaning there will most likely be less maintenance costs.
Another difference is that there is limited riding time on an electric bike due to the battery. A solution could be to purchase multiple batteries to swap out for extended ride times. The battery life is definitely something to consider depending on the type of racing you do. Longer races like hare scrambles will most likely require you to have more than one battery.
As we've mentioned before, it might also be hard to find a class for these bikes depending on the series you race. It is best to contact the series you plan on participating in to see where electric dirt bikes can fit in. If they don't have anything yet- see if they will add another class option to accommodate!
Gas Gas E2
The Gas Gas E2 claims to have "ridiculously fast recharging times" to keep the fun rolling. It can recharge to 80% in just 35 minutes. Just like the bigger bikes, this model features WP suspension. It is build to last with a lightweight, yet strong chassis that can handle tough terrain all day long. High quality forged aluminum is used for important components to keep everything strong. The motor is "silent, durable, and only has one setting so youngsters can learn how to ride safely without any distractions." There is also a lanyard that goes around the child's wrist to shut off the bike in the event of a crash- another safety feature to make parents confident in their new riders.
Husqvarna E-E2
Just like the KTM and Gas Gas, the Husky E-E2 promotes itself as bridging the gap between a Stacyc bike and a bigger electric or gas dirt bike. It offers a run time of up to 100 minutes. It also features a lightweight yet strong chassis built for withstanding whatever your rider throws its way. You'll find WP suspension on this bike as well. The same lanyard kill switch is on the Husky too for increased safety of your little one.
Overall, the KTM E2, Gas Gas E2 and Husky E-E2 are all very comparable from suspension to frame to safety features. No matter which you go with, you can be confident that these bikes will help your young rider transition to rider bigger dirt bikes. They can do so at their own pace and adjust the bike as needed as they grow and learn.
