"In the long run, you make your own luck—good, bad, or indifferent.” - Loretta Lynn

Loretta Lynn

Loretta Lynn was an American country singer and songwriter. She grew up in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky as a coal miner's daughter. She married Oliver "Doolittle" Lynn and became a housewife with 6 children. Her husband encouraged her music career. Eventually, she moved to Nashville in 1960 where she entered the world of country music. Loretta focused on writing songs about her life, especially focusing on lyrics other women could relate to. In 1972, she was the first woman to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year award. Over her long career, she won many awards, created friendships with other singers, and took on the reputation of a role model for women. Sadly, she passed away October 4, 2022 in her home on her ranch.

The Ranch

Loretta Lynn's Ranch is an event compound in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee that features campgrounds, cabin rentals, miles of trails, and other tourist attractions. This facility is home to the largest amateur motocross race in the country, the AMA National Championship, which some of our riders attend. They also host many other rides and races throughout the year.

Loretta and her husband welcomed the racing community. The first race was held on their property in 1982 after the suggestion from Dave Coombs. Now, the AMA National Championship race is a six day event held there in the beginning of August. Only the top racers in each class qualify.

Other races and trail rides are featured there too. Check out the website for updates on racing and events. You'll find events for all kinds of vehicles like dirt bikes, ATVs, Jeeps, and motorcycles.

Other Attractions

The Ranch also features other activities including: stores, museums, guided tours, food, swimming, tubing, fishing and more. It is one of Tennessee's biggest tourist attractions and one of the largest campgrounds, claiming to be the "ultimate family destination". A top attraction is the original grist mill on the property, which hosts a museum, gift shops, and a deck overlooking the scenic Hurricane creek and waterfall.
